EMS

The ambulances out on the streets are often overlooked by the average citizen as they go about their day. Within those ambulances are trained EMT's and Paramedics who are on-call to provide immediate life-saving measures to citizens who dial 9-1-1. Some of these ambulance providers work in partnership with local fire and police departments to provide medical treatment and transportation to patients. Others are private services who often work with care facilities or hospitals. They all provide and an invaluable service to people who are in immediate need of care.

EMT school averages 3 months to complete, while Paramedics train for up to 1 year. Some people spend an entire career as an EMT while other promote upward to a Paramedic skill-set. Whether you stay with a private ambulance company or take your skills to a fire department or hospital for employment, this training is critical to a career in Emergency Medicine in the field.
